Jeddah – Ramadan 10, 1428/ September 22, 2007 – As part of continuing humanitarian works to alleviate the suffering of people worldwide, the World Assembly of Muslim Youth (WAMY) has spent SR 131,200 for digging 13 new wells in the impoverished war-torn country of Somalia. Dr. Muhammad bin Omar Ba Dahdah, assistant secretary general of WAMY for the Makkah region, said that the projects were implemented mainly in regions with large concentrations of refugees and displaced people.
He said that some of the well projects were implemented in remote areas with scant sources of water. “Making available of drinking water to the poor people is one of the priorities of WAMY,” he said in a statement.
