Hamas and Islamic Jihad officials reached a deal last night ending the fierce armed clashes that killed a woman and wounded five other people in the southern Gaza city, Rafah.The deal, which was mediated by representatives from the People’s Resistance Committees, another armed group operating in Gaza, calls for withdrawing militants from the streets and releasing all abductees.

The clashes erupted after the Hamas Executive Force, known as Tanfezyia, refused to release two Jihad men who had been arrested at a mosque in the city on Friday.In retaliation Jihad militants angrily took the streets of the city and kidnapped 15 Hamas members….However, the tension and animosity towards Hamas from these groups has been growing and intensifying owing to the isolation of Gaza by Israel and the outside world, which is threatening the coastal enclave with a possible humanitarian crisis.
