The MNLF Sebangan Revolutionary State Committee (MNLF-SRSC) based in Matalam, North Cotabato, made the pledge following the recent harassment by a lawless armed group against helpless Moro farmers in Pikit and Carmen towns, where the Malitubog-Maridagao irrigation dam, the biggest project of such undertaking by the National Irrigation Administration, is situated.On Oct. 18, the MNLF–SRSC met with officials of the North Cotabato Police Provincial Office and Army’s 602nd Infantry Brigade in this city to discuss the issues.

Fred Edillon, MNLF-SRSC secretary-general, said remnants of the late Commander Pakil Ayunan remains active in sowing fear among Muslim farmers in the area…“These groups have been extorting money from the farmers, especially now that its harvest season,” he stressed.With this, he assured authorities of the MNLF-SRSC help in securing the areas from local lawless groups.
