Two Muslim groups have described the alteration of election boundaries in Mombasa as a plan to rig the election. The Council of Imams and Preachers of Kenya (CIPK) and Kenya Assembly of Ulamaa and Imams (Kauli) said the new changes would only confuse voters. They asked the Electoral Commission of Kenya (ECK) to revert to the old boundaries…According the ECK legal notice on the parliamentary constituencies review (amendment No 2) order 2007, Ganjoni ward initially in Likoni, has also been handed over to Mvita. The legal notice also handed to Mvita Tudor Estate and Tudor Four despite protests from local leaders.

The ECK, however, claimed that the decision to alter the boundaries was reached in 2004 during a stakeholders meeting at Bandari College. The enraged voters accused two Mombasa sitting MPs of being behind the move to change the boundaries.
