The secretary-general of the Arab League, Amr Moussa, is looking into the possibility of making his first visit to the Somali capital Mogadishu. This is according to report on the London-based news paper, al-Sharq al-Awsat, citing sources within the Arab League. If Moussa does travel to Mogadishu, it will be the first such visit by a secretary-general of the Arab League to Somalia. The visit could be part of a tour that Moussa intends to carry out of Horn of Africa nations, including Ethipia, Djibouti and Kenya.

A delegation of the Arab League led by Samir Hussein will be in the country in the coming days to carry out a reconaissance mission…It will be a tense mission aimed at reconciling the different parties after the Somali government asked the Arab League to change its permanent representative in the country, having accused the outgoing Abdullah Al-Arami of being close to the powerful Islamic Courts movement.
