On Tuesday, a top official working for the United Nations food agency, The World Food Program (WFP), was released by the Somali government, after he has been detained for six days. The officer, Idris Osman, was captured last Wednesday, in Mogadishu, when around 60 Somali National Security Service armed officials broke into WFP compound and carried him away at gunpoint on a battlewagon.

“We haven’t received a clear indication or explanation as to why he was held. They haven’t told us exactly what they suspect he may have done,” said WFP spokesman Peter Smerdon in the Kenyan capital Nairobi. He added that the cause of the release is unclear and it came as a surprise since nobody knew weather the government decides to free Osman.”He was simply released and taken to the UN compound,” he said. The only declaration of the Somali government was that of the Prime Minister Ali Mohamed Gedi, who said, on Friday, that Idris Osman was being investigating, without giving any other information.
