Brazilian football giants Vasco da Gama have shown interest in securing the services of UAE Gulf Cup hero Ismail Mattar, even if it be for just “half a season”, according to the club’s representative.The UAE striker, winner of the Golden Ball at the 2003 World Youth Championship, caught the eye of Vasco da Gama chairman Eurico Miranda, who watched him on TV and compared him to Brazilian star Romario.

…”He is a guy with a lot of skill and pace and his football suits the style that is Brazilian. If not at Vasco, I think a lot of other clubs in Brazil could be interested in a player like him.”
