Kuwait on Wednesday won an Executive Board seat at the election held at UNESCOs General Conference here, and former Education Minister Dr. Hassan Al-Ibrahim was designated to represent the country. Seven Arab countries are now represented on the Executive Board with Tunisia, Kuwait, Saudi Arabia, and Morocco joining the three other countries already holding seats, those being Egypt, Algeria and Lebanon.
Tunisia headed the election result Wednesday, with 125 votes, followed by Kuwait, with 124 votes, Saudi Arabia 109 votes, and finally Morocco, with 108 votes.Each Board Member will sit for a four-year term, while there elections every two years for a rotating replacement system of part of the board so sitting members in 2007 may be replaced in 2009.
