The United Arab Emirates (UAE) says it will deport 4,000 foreign workers who were took part in a strike last Saturday calling for better salaries and working conditions.
The 4,000 workers, most of whom are of Asian origin, were involved in a strike on Saturday in the Jabad Ali area, south of Dubai.”We have asked the police in Dubai and the citizenship office to take all the neceesary measures to expel these workers,” the minister said.

Reports say during the strike there were clashes between police and the workers, who threw stones at the police, damaging both police vehicles and private cars.The demonstrators also failed to report to work the following day. The Labour Ministry decided to cancel their work permits and ordered their deportation, forcing them to leave the UAE for not having respected the terms of their contracts.
