Sudan’s President Omar Al Bashir thanked Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques King Abdullah bin Abdul Aziz for the Kingdom’s continuous support to implement the decisions of the Riyadh Summit to help the Darfur region. Addressing the Arab Conference for Improving the Humanitarian Condition in Darfur here, Al Bashir urged all the Arab States, governmental and non-governmental organizations and financial institutions to contribute in fulfilling the humanitarian needs of the people in Darfur region.
It is noteworthy that Saudi Arabia has extended financial assistance worth SR 138 million. The aid was made available through the Saudi Arabian Red Crescent Society, the Saudi Press Agency reported. The society provided a package of humanitarian aid to the region in order to alleviate the suffering of people in this western region of Sudan. The aid consists of 12 ambulances, 168.861 tons of medicine and 69.798 tons of medical appliances and equipment.

It also established 14 health centers and eight clinics besides distributing 4000 school bags, establishing a female sewing training center, providing farmers with agricultural machines, equipment and seeds, supplying more than 4000 tents, 14000 rugs, six vehicles, blankets and sewing machines besides carrying out vaccination campaigns against polio, and digging and rehabilitating 98 wells, and establishing a water desalination plant.
