Prince Khaled gave away prizes for the winners of the competition. Saudi contestants bagged first prizes in three of the total five categories of the competition. Several dignitaries, including the Saudi Grand Mufti Sheikh Abdul Aziz Alu AlSheikh, the Minister for Islamic Affairs, Endowments, Call and Guidance Sheikh Saleh bin Abdul Aziz Al-Sheikh, and Abdul Aziz Al Subaiheen, secretary general of the competition committee attended the function. In his speech, Prince Khaled Al Faisal called upon the Muslims and the participants of the competition to spread the message of the Holy Quran all over the world.

… As many as 151 contestants, representing several countries and Islamic centers and societies from around the world, participated part in the seven-day event, which was organized by the Ministry of Islamic Affairs, Endowments, Call and Guidance. The competition for the memorization, recitation, intonation and interpretation of the Holy Qur’an was conducted in five categories. Saudi Arabia’s Osama bin Ali Al Ganem bagged first prize in the first category for the memorization of Quran in full with recitation and interpretation of meanings. He was presented with a prize money of SR 75,000. The second winner Muhamamd Nabeel Ahmad of Egypt got SR 72,000. The next three winners in this category are Abdul Ilah Hazei of Yemen (SR69,000), Murtaza Dabbagh of Nigeria (SR66,000), and Muhammad Al Hussein of Lebanon (SR63,000).

Abdullah Shaloula of Saudi Arabia won first prize in the second category for memorization in full with recitation (prize money SR 55,000), while the first prize winner in the third category for memorization of 20 parts with recitation is Osama Yusuf of Taiwan (SR 40,000). The topper in the fourth category for memorization of 10 parts with recitation is Eisa Al Sobhi of Saudi Arabia (SR 25,000) whereas the first prize winner in the fifth category for memorization of five parts with recitation is Sufyan Haneef of South Africa (SR10,000).
